Obituary for Stanley V. Boik
Stanley V. Boik, 83 of Webster died on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in Murrieta, California.
Stanley was born on Thursday, February 21, 1929, in Grenville SD to Louis and Theresa (Ewalt) Boik. He grew up in the Grenville area and attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School. In 1951, Stanley entered the U.S. Army and served in the Special Forces during the Korean War.
Upon return from the Korean War in 1953, he was united in marriage to Therese Gaikowski on November, 23 1953. He attended Northern State College and graduated in 1961 majoring in business. After college he worked as the parts and salesman for Loyal Chevrolet, in Webster until 1981. Stan than worked as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1997.
Upon retiring, Stan and his wife, Therese, spent the winter months in California, with their daughter Lori and Son-In-Law, Michael and the summers in South Dakota. Sandy and Joni were always close by and Janine and Darcy always spent time in the summer, for family reunions, in the Black Hills, Winter Park Colorado or in California. Stan enjoyed his yearly trip to Cancun and the special trip to the Vatican in Rome Venice last year.
Stan loved God and his church and was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Webster. He was a very caring, loving husband and father. Always serving others before himself.
He was a member of Herbert McKennett Post 40 American Legion and V.F.W. Post 4690 of Webster. Stan loved to garden, enjoyed old time music, Sudoku, Dominos, and monitoring the weather. He was our own personal meteorologist.
Stanley passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in Murrieta, California at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 14 days. Survivors include his wife, Therese; five daughters, Sandra (Tim) Simon, Webster, Joni (Randy) Tolvstad, Mellette, SD, Lori (Dr. Michael) Vargas, Temecula, CA, Janine (Jon) Jacobs, Spring Creek, NV, Darcy (Dean) Jensen, Lakewood, CO; two brothers, Bernie (Jane) Boik of Clayton, NC and James (Joanie) Boik of Streator, IL; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
DeAnn, his daughter preceded him in death, as well as, his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
