"Wesley Bortel of Bowling Green, OH, was instantly killed when his car went into a ditch in front of George Armbruster Jr's home , east of Grand Rapids, OH. He and his wife were on their way to their old homestead at the time of the accident. His wife suffered a fractured arm and many painful bruises.
Wesley was a Civil War veteran and had looked much younger than his other comrades.
Surviving him are his wife and three children, Charles, and Ira, farmers of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Clark (Amy) Bortel of Toledo, OH."
