JAMES THOMAS ROBERTSON, 1858 - 1934

James T. Robertson the son of John H. Sr. and Nancy Jane Wasson Robertson, by his mother's own admission, was born on April 12, 1859 in Fall Creek Township, Adams County, Illinois. He died on January 23, 1934 at the age of 76, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Hannibal, Marion County, Missouri and is buried in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Hannibal. His grave is supposedly located in the James A. Conners plot, section 4, lot #156. His name in the Mt Olivet Cemetery Burial Records reads as James "E". Robertson but his granddaughter, my aunt Mary Margaret Robertson Squires Seaton and her daughter, Teresa Squires Price of Keokuk, Lee County, Iowa, have assured me that the man buried there is her grandfather and that is good enough for me. His address at the time of his death was recorded as, RFD #4, Palmyra, Marion County, Missouri.

Note: I have since learned that his Death Certificate states his home of record was in Ralls County, Missouri at the time of his death on January 23, 1934 and that he died in Hannibal as stated above. His death certificate was issued in Marion County, Missouri and numbered as 1865.

He 1st married Lydia Celia Allen on July 31, 1879 in Hannibal, Marion County, Missouri. Lydia, the daughter of Richard H. and Nancy Jane Baugher Allen, was born on December 26, 1862 in Illinois and died at her home in Rensselaer, Ralls County, Missouri on September 22, 1933. She is buried next to her 2nd husband Fred Schaffer, in the Bluff Hall Church Cemetery located a little to the south east of Quincy, off route 57 in Fall Creek Township, Adams County, Illinois. Mr. Schaffer died in 1946 at the age of 78. James T. Robertson 2nd married the widow Luellen "Ella" Baker Conners, on December 31, 1919 in Hannibal, Marion, County, Missouri. According to his grand-daughters Lucy and Mary Margaret, sometime after James' death in 1934, they thought that his widow Ella may have married his brother, Andrew Frederick Robertson but so far I have found no evidence that suggests such a marriage ever occurred.
