Marie Pehrson Bagley passed away on October 17, 2002 of causes incident to age.

She was born on May 11, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ernest W. Pehrson and Agnes Gabrielsen. She married Ben G. Bagley in 1936 and upon his graduation from the University of Utah, they moved to Midvale and her husband began his law practice.

Marie was an active community leader. She was a member of the Midvale Ladies Community Club, The Ladies' Literary Club of Salt Lake City, and was selected as the Club Woman Of The Year for the State of Utah. She was also active in the League of Women Voters, the Republician Women of Utah, and was chosen for a special task force in the early seventies to consider changing the form of County Government.

Marie was also active in several fraternal organizations. While at the University of Utah she was a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity and for many years worked with the vision screening team. As a member of Martha Chapter # 7, OES, she twice served as Worthy Matron. As a member of Daughters of the Nile, she served as Queen and as a representative to the supreme council. She also organized Bethal 16, Order of Job's Daughters. She was an honorary member of the Gyros and an active member of the Midvale Kiwanis Club. She also served on the sewing committee at the Shrine Hospital.

Marie believed in Service. She was a Cub Scout leader and a Girl Scout leader. She was an active member of the PTA at the elementary, junior high school, high school, and the state. She believed that we each make a difference. In the early years of the March of Dimes program she organized the fund drive in all of Jordan School District. She was also active in organizing drives for the Heart Fund.

Marie will be greatly missed by her many friends, her family, her neighbors, and the bridge clubs to which she belonged. She was an avid Jazz fan and a season ticket holder for more than a dozen years. The people on the fifth row will miss her enthusiasm.

Marie is survived by her children, JoAnn Seghini, Grant Bagley (Margaret), John Bagley (Megan), and Donna Olcott. She has 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Midvale City Cemetery, 471 West 7500 South, on Monday, October 21, 2002, at 12 Noon. The services will be conducted by Martha Chapter #7, Order of the Eastern Star. Following the services friends may call at the Midvale Masonic Temple at 7684 South Center Square (150 West) in Midvale. In lieu of flowers Marie would like you to make any donations to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, Fairfax Rd. at Virginia Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84102; or the Humane Society of Utah, P.O. Box 573659, Murray, Utah 84157.
