Charles Atwood Doolan (SMSGT USAF Retired) age 75, of Lynn Haven, Florida passed away June 30, 2018 after a long illness of heart disease. Chuck was born January 18, 1943 in Lancaster, NH. He was the oldest of 12 , living the earlier years on the family farm. In 1952, Chuck moved to Belmont Maine, attended elementary school in Waldo County. Chuck graduated from Crosby High School in Belfast, Maine in 1961.

Chuck moved to Florida in 1988 from Castle AFB, Calif., after serving as the First Sergeant/Superintendent 93rd Comptroller Squadron. In Florida he worked as a Civil Service Employee assigned to Tyndall AFB as Deputy Accounting and Finance officer from 1989-1996. Chuck entered the military service in 1961, where he served in the Maine National Guard, US Navy, and the US Air Force, for a total of 27 + years of service. He served in Vietnam (2 tours), Germany, Turkey, South Carolina, California, New Mexico and Florida. He was a life member of the Air Force Association and American Legion.

Chuck was an avid golfer, enjoyed old movies, and followed the Red Sox since early childhood.

Chuck was preceded in death by his step fathers, Clifford C. Doolan and Lewis O. Newell, his mother, Frances Crummett Newell of Montville Maine, 3 brothers: Clifford F., Paul S., and Lawrence Doolan.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice I. Bragdon Doolan of Lynn Haven Florida, 3 daughters, Tana and her husband Tim Lewis of Harpers Ferry, WV; Toni and her husband Bryan McKinney of Chardon Ohio; Tina and her husband Oliver Bugarin of Lynn Haven, Florida; and one son, Charles Doolan Jr and his wife, Cynthia of Panama City Florida. Brothers; Howard of Belfast, Maine; Harry of Waterville, Maine and Neil of Montville, Maine; 5 sisters: Elizabeth Sullivan of Thorndike Maine, Nellie Littlefield of Morrill Maine, June Mattie of Augusta Maine; Kay Noyes of Montville, Maine and Emily May Hills of Montville Maine. Ten grandchildren: April, Tiffany, Mary Elizabeth, Samantha, Brianna, Kali, Ashley, Brandon, Jonathan and Justin, and 1 great grandchild, Alexis.

Chuck’s decorations and awards include: the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Commendation with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Navy Combat Action Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short and Long Tour Ribbons, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross With Device and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
