Raymond Frances Applen, 85, of Quinlan went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in Royce City.

Funeral services celebrating Raymond's life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Quinlan with Chaplain Dennis Hogan officiating.

Interment will be immediately following at Lakeside Memorial Park in Quinlan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan.

Serving as Pallbearers; Skip Davis, Charles Davis, Todd Christie, Mark Porter, Mike Porter, Johnny Wallace, Felix Morales and Todd Darter.

Raymond was born on August 11, 1932 in Milo, Illinois.

He is the son of the late Harold Applen and Bessie Towne Applen.

He was raised and educated in Milo until he left for the Military. At the age of 17 he joined the National Guard and from there he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and served in Korea. Following his discharge in 1953 he again served his country when he joined the United States Air Force for five years. Raymond married June Jackson on September 3, 1954 and they made their home in Illinois. He worked as a mechanic and then a carpenter. They moved to Texas a few years later and in 1969 they settled in Quinlan. Raymond was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a stock car fan and even drove stock cars for many years.

He was also preceded in death by his son Steve Applen, sisters Helen, Ruthie, Arlene and Shirley.

He is loved and will be missed by his wife June Applen; daughter Laurie Reeme and husband Rodney of Quinlan; brother John Applen and wife Lucille of Gore, Oklahoma; grandchildren Alex and David.
