WILLIAM CURTIS CONNERS, 1881 - 1950

William Curtis Conners, son of William Henry and Laura (Fugatt?) Conners was born on Tuesday, February 1, 1881 in Payson, Adams County, Illinois and died on Monday, December 6, 1950 in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. He married Edna Stark on Tuesday, January 18, 1910 at Palmyra in Marion County, Missouri. They are both buried in the Greenmount Cemetery on south 12th street in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery - Block G - Lot 195 - Section NE - Grave S...He and his wife Edna share a Grave Marker...

William Curtis was a cousin of George Albert Robertson, who was married to his wife Edna's sister, Frances "Fannie" Jane Stark. This same William C. Conners was also documented as a witness to George Robertson's belated filing for a birth certificate in 1943 at the Adams County Court House in Quincy, Illinois, ...further evidence has been found of two sisters of William who were placed for adoption in the 1890's. The two girls were left by their mother in 1892 with the Woodland Home for Orphans and the Friendless in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois after she and her husband Wm. H. Conners were granted a divorce by the Adams County Court. Although the records of Woodland Home indicate that Laura Conners was the mother of the two girls, there was no mention made of her maiden name. Further research has revealed that the younger of these two girls, Lena Conners was placed in 1893 with a family by the name of Lehnen but in reality she was raised by a family named Moorman from the state of Iowa. Lena Conners Lehnen Moorman's family was subsequently traced to the Ft. Worth, Texas area where she is reported to have died in 1964 at the age of 76.

Note: William Curtis Conners middle name may have been the namesake for his cousin Curtis Robertson, the son of John and Louisa Conners Robertson,...the uncle and aunt of the George A. Robertson mentioned above...mrbrtsn
