Nora, aka Onnie, was born to Patrick and Ellen Cunningham of WestMeath, Ireland. She met and married Lyman Bills in New York City shortly after immigrating to America. About 1900 they moved to southeast Vermont and settled on a hillside farm in Newfane, Vermont, where they raised a large family.
