On July 3, 1970, he married Jean Miller in Sanger, where they made their home and raised their three sons. He worked for Hammett and Nash Surveyors in Denton until he was forced to medically retire. Buck loved his family and especially loved his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jimmy Ray Howard, two sisters Edith Smith and Kathy Boswell, six brothers Jimmy Joe Howard, Larry Howard, Kenneth Howard, W. C. (Dub) Howard,Carroll Howard and Don Howard. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Jean of Sanger, two sons Joe Bailey Howard of Sanger and Jeffery Howard of Sanger, four grandchildren Dayton Howard, Courtney Howard, Kaylee Howard and Kylie Howard, and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. A graveside service will be held at 10 am at the Bolivar Cemetery on Friday, July 6, 2018. Pastor Gary Sweatman will officiate the service.
