CHESHIRE — Raymond T. Hackett, 73, of Peck Lane, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at his home after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. He was the husband of Frances E. (Karcher) Hackett.
Mr. Hackett was born Aug. 13, 1933, in Waterbury, the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Dillon) Hackett.
He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He worked at Line Manufacturing in Wolcott, retiring after 39 years of employment. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking and spoiling his granddaughters. He was known for being a Ford Motor enthusiast.
Mr. Hackett was a longtime Cheshire resident, where he was a communicant of Church of the Epiphany.
Besides his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his four daughters, Debra of Waterbury, Donna of Manchester, Barbara of Cheshire and Susan Booth and her husband, Brian, of West Hartford; a brother, Frank Hackett of Waterbury; two sisters, Claire Wallinger and Patricia Hackett, both of Cheshire; two granddaughters, Shannon and Erin Booth; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Hackett, and a sister, Bernice Nolan.
Arrangements: A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Road, Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 S. Main St., Cheshire.
