OBITUARY
MISS E. RENNELL Well known in Taranaki for her work as a nurse and her unremitting care of the sick. Miss Edith Rennell, eldest daughter of Mr C. Rennell, first secretary of the New Plymouth Harbour Board, and Mrs Rennell, died recently in Auckland. She trained at the Wellington Public Hospital and became sub-matron of that institution. She was afterwards appointed matron of the Rotorua sanatorium, where she remained for many years, and later, soon after the outbreak of the last war, she was transferred to the charge of the Hanmer Springs' sanatorium. In the course of her work there she came in contact with a large number of returned soldiers, by whom she was held in high esteem. On her retirement she made her home at Auckland, where she lived for some years. She is survived by her sister, Mrs A. H. Holmes. Christchurch, and formerly of New Plymouth (Press 12 Feb 1941 pg2)
