TULIA - Lynn Ellis, 62, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Reed, pastor, and the Rev. Jesse Hodges, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Mr. Ellis was born Oct. 7, 1944, in Tulia, where he grew up and graduated from Tulia High School in 1963. He started Swisher Tire in 1968 and bought Young & Ellis in 1976. He married Joy Boone on Sept. 5, 1969, in Tulia. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Tulia Jaycees. He was a member of the Tulia High School Booster Club, was awarded the Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year, was a Small Business of Texas award winner and THS Booster of the Year.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Hazel Ellis; a sister, LaJuan Stallings; his in-laws, Fred and Mary Boone; and a brother-in-law, Tom Boone.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Ellis; a daughter, Anissa Ellis of Tulia; a son, Derek Ellis of Denton; a granddaughter, Marha Felts of Tulia; a sister, Katey Lindsey and husband Doug of Merkel; a brother-in-law, John Stallings; five nieces, Jay Thomas and husband Bill and their kids, Callie, Frankie and Kelsie, Lana Robbins and husband Perry and their son, Ryan, Lee Lynn Lindsey, Janet Stallings and Laura Armbruster and husband Robert; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Boone and family and Brenda Fuller and husband Barry and their kids, Hayden, Harrison, Hattie and Hope; a nephew, Allen Boone; and his business partner, Don Young and wife Gaye.

The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association, 6605 W. Interstate 40, Suite A-6, Amarillo, TX 79106; the Tulia Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 116, Tulia, TX 79088; or to First United Methodist Church, 119 N. Briscoe, Tulia, TX 79088.
