Floyd Duke Barrett passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on July 5, 2018. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by parents, Elva Katherine Tidwell and William Sherman Barrett, as well as three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Barrett is survived by his wife of 62 years, Glenda Maynard Barrett; son, Mark Alan Barrett (Nancy); granddaughter, Christie Barrett Harrison (Phillip), grandson William Mark Barrett and twin great grandchildren, Barrett Alton Harrison and Elizabeth Duke Harrison.
A lifelong resident of Nashville, Mr. Barrett was President of Gasser Banners and was a member of New Hope Community Church, where he served as Deacon and Chairman of the Board. He graduated from Bellevue High School, where he was an All NIL basketball player. He played for Coach Doug Hall and led the NIL in scoring his senior year. He attended Belmont University on a basketball scholarship. Mr. Barrett was an avid Vanderbilt sports fan his entire life.
A private burial and graveside service were held at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens with family and friends. Pallbearers were Will Barrett, Will Walden, Mike McCullough, Phillip Harrison, Henry Geny, Rob Maynard, Tim Stewart, and Chuck Norton.
