The record lists him as an adjutant in Wheeler's Company but I found a letter he wrote to C.G. Memmenger, Secty of the Confederate Treasury in which Mooser was following up on an application to become a book keeper in the Treasury Dept. He states he had enlisted as a private in C. G 2nd MS Regt and served for awhile until, due to age, he found a replacement for his position. However he still wanted to serve the Confederacy and puts forth his credentials as "the best accountant in North Mississippi" having worked in the largest Mercantile establishments for more than 15 years.
