M L. Andress, 73, died at 8:20 p.m . Saturday in Root Memorial Hospital at Colorado City after a brief illness. Funeral was to be held at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Snyder with the Rev. Jack Riley, associate pastor, and the Rev. Glenn Roenfeldt of Colorado City officiating. Burial was to follow in Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Seale Funeral Home. Masonic graveside rites were to be held at the cemetery. Mr. Andress was born July 24, 1898, in Comanche, but he had been a resident of Scurry County since 1924. He married Miss Clemey Smith on Sept. 7. 1918, in Roby. He was an active member of all Snyder Masonic bodies. A 32nd degree KCCH Scottish Rite Mason, he was past Potentate of Suez Shrine Temple and a pasf patron of the Order of Eastern Star. Mr. Andress also was a Democratic party precinct chairman and a member of the Baptist church. Surviving are the wife of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Chambers of Colorado City; one son, Leon of Waco; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie McCombs of Rotan, and Mrs. O.P. Riherd of Dalhart; two brothers, Jessie of San Antonio, and Sam of Yuma, Ariz. One son, Marvin, preceded him in death in 1942.
