Walter Charles Vonburg Jr., 1946 - 1994

Walter a.k.a."Wally" C. Vonburg, son of Walter B. and Verna A. Lepper Vonburg, was born on October 14, 1946 in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois and died at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 1994 at his home in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. He married Nancy Sue Robertson, daughter of Charles E. and Wilma O. Mayfield Robertson, on August 29, 1966 in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. For a number of years Wally tended bar at his brother John's Tavern, The Copper Kettle, on north west Locust street in Quincy and at one time was the proprietor of the Vest Tavern on the corner of Washington and south 6th street in Quincy. He was buried on Wednesday February 16th in the St. Mary's Church section of the Calvary Cemetery on northeast (18th) Locust in Quincy.

Walter C. "Wally" Vonburg, 47, of 512 Jackson, former owner of the Vest Tavern at Sixth and Washington, died at 4 p.m. Saturday February 12, 1994 in his home. Born October 14, 1946, in Quincy, Mr. Vonburg was a son of Walter B. and Verna A. Lepper Vonburg. He was a bartender for the Copper Kettle Tavern and former owner of the Vest Tavern. He was a US Army veteran and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
On August 29, 1966 he married Nancy S. Robertson in Quincy.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis L. of Bossier City, La., and John E. of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; a daughter Mrs. Jeff (Lori) Stephens of Quincy; a brother, John T. of Quincy; and two grandchildren, Angela Stephens of Quincy and Devon Vonburg of Bossier City. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey E. Stephens.
Services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Ken Venverloth. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
