Mitchell L. Parks was born in Anderson County, Texas on June 13, 1915, to R. E. Lee Parks and Judy Little Parks.

He graduated from Palestine High School, Allen Academy, and Baylor University.

Capt. Parks entered the Marine Corps in September of 1941. He trained at Corpus Christi, Texas and Mojave, California. He served in the Pacific Theater and was killed in action on March 31, 1945; his body was lost at sea.

Capt. Parks was survived by his wife, the former Doris Bennett of Elkhart, Texas; his mother, Judy Parks; and brother, Dwight E. Parks.
