Ernie was born on September 28, 1942, to Ernest "Buck" Abel and Robbie Howard Abel in Cleveland, MS. On July 17, 1964, he married his wife Barbara Burkes in Cleveland, MS. Ernie truly had a green thumb whether working as a farmer in the fields or in his backyard with his many vegetables. He enjoyed talking with others and picking at his friends but most of all, loved to hunt and fish. Ernie and Barbara enjoyed sitting on the porch together and going camping at Enid Lake. In the mornings, Ernie would sit outside with a coffee can full of deer feed to greet the flock of deer that approached him. He was always eager to share the excitement with his wife. Ernie was a simple man who loved his friends and family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Frank "Buck" Abel, Sr. and Robbie Howard Abel; sister, Barbara Kinard (FAG # 182072395); nephew, Tommy Kinard; and great nephew, Christopher Kinard.
Ernie is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara Abel of Cleveland; children of the heart, Natalie Harkins (Larry); sister-in-law, Cathy Kyle (Byron) of Cleveland and Margie Litton (Jerome) of Jacksonville, AR; sisters of the heart, Betty Junkin (Roy) and Joyce Ross of Milan, TN; mother- in- law, Bessie Burkes of Jacksonville, AR; special life long friends, Linda and Gale Roark from Cleveland; a special niece, Sharon Smith (Darrell) of Cabot, AR; a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; and many more children they called their own.
