Son of Thomas L. Baldwin and Roxie A. Baldwin (maiden name unknown). His parents' dates of death are unknown but Roxie was still alive in 1883 (as the only living parent) when William got married. Birth year is approximate. He seems to have been younger than Allie and got married with the consent of his mother so I estimate his marriage age to be about 16. Thomas Lawrence (T. L.) Baldwin is his older brother and he also is listed on the marriage certificate so he probably provided the $200 bond.

I believe he probably got his middle name from being named after J. Q. Loomis. William had a brother, John P. Baldwin, who served under Capt. John Q. Loomis during the war (and he may have perished during the war since there are no further records of him). William may have been named after this man but that is just speculation.
