Peter was born to Isaac Jackson Duree and Rachel Pickett Duree on September 30, 1860. He married Julia Ann Harriet America Smith on September 26, 1880 in Putnam County, Missouri. Peter was a farmer and they move from Missouri to Nebraska in about 1885. They lived in Oxford and Culbertson. They were traveling to their daughter's home in Hollinger for a celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, when they were killed in a car – train accident one block from her home. Also killed in the accident were their daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.
One son died in infancy. They were survived by daughter Mary Grace, son Ora Cordry and daughter Dora Viola.
