Norman B. McDaniels, 78, of Camden, NY passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at Oneida Healthcare Center after a brief illness. He was born on November 2, 1939 in Rome, NY a son of Harold & Mary Keil McDaniels. He was a 1957 graduate of Camden High School and on January 21, 1961 he married the former Sheila A. Harrigan in Utica, NY. Sheila passed away March 30, 2015. Norm worked as a wire drawer for the Camden Wire Company, for 38 years, retiring in 1993. He then worked as a dealer with the Turning Stone Casino for 18 years before retiring in 2013. Norm was a member of St. John's Church, St. John's Men's Club and the Knights of Columbus, a 52 year member of the Camden Volunteer Fire Department, he served as President, Assistant Chief and Secretary during the 1980's. He was a member of the inaugural Camden Little League Team of 1952 and became a longtime coach for both Camden Babe Ruth and Little League. Norm also served as an Endman with the Babe Ruth Minstrel Shows and was a lifetime member of the S_ _ _bird's Club and Mud Flats Chapter I.O.O.B. Surviving are four daughters, Kelly McDaniels , North Syracuse, Erin & David LaPlante, Camden, Kathleen & Walter Schmidt, Blossvale and Maureen Johnston, Camden, two sons, Michael McDaniels and Mark McDaniels both of Camden, 13 grandchildren; Ryan, Patrick, Shawn, Colin, Kaela and Maggie McDaniels, Jesse Hilts, Dakota and Casey Gray, Alex and Hannah LaPlante, Lexie and Madison Johnston and 10 great grandchildren, a sister, Beverly & Robert Wanner, Rome, a brother, Robert McDaniels, Utica, NY, a brother in law, Robert Harrigan, Clinton, NY and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Richard W. McDaniels, a grandson, Tyler LaPlante, a great grand-daughter, Briannah Nicole McDaniels and a brother, Edward McDaniels.
