Mrs. Nancy Erleen Allen Cecil, 88, resident of High Point, died July 16, 2018 at Westchester Manor.

Nancy was born November 25, 1929 in Walnut Cove, NC, a daughter to Lois Butner and Fred Allen Sr. and later moved to Greensboro at age 10. In 1948 she married Robert L. Cecil from High Point who passed away in 2004. Nancy worked as a studio assistant to Lila Keen Moore in the late 1950’s and in the early 1960’s she worked at Sample Book Company. Later, she worked at Carson’s Inc. and Claude Gable sewing upholstery. Nancy shared a love of bowling with her husband and their friends. She was the N.C. individual champion bowler in 1955 and mixed doubles champion with partner Ed Kemp. Nancy found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, word-search puzzles and also was an avid reader. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Boyd Allen; a sister, Margaret Willeford Bigham; two sisters-in-law, Alberta Cecil Shaw and Donna Cecil Horton; and a niece, Audrey Shaw Cole.

Surviving is a daughter, Karen Cecil Fowler and husband Mical; a son, Robert L. Cecil Jr.; two grandchildren, Sonja Fowler Bugary (Rob) and Justin Fowler (Andrea Baldwin); fifteen nieces and nephews; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC, 27262. The family extends special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at both Westchester Manor and Hospice of the Piedmont for all the loving care given to Nancy these past months.
