"Armon Westhoff" 50 years old dropped dead Wednesday February 21 while fighting a prairie fire on his farm a mile west of Greenbush. Was subject to heart trouble and the exertion and excitement incident to fighting the fire proved fatal. Mr. Westhoff was an old resident of the Greenbush community. Funeral was held from the Catholic Church in Greenbush Friday morning.
Mr. Westhoff lived in Walnut a short time, then Greenbush, Kansas. He was the postmaster of Greenbush from 6 May 1898 until the office was discontinued on 15 May 1901. After that he was the eighth owner of a store that was located directly across the road (Highway 57) from St. Aloysius Church. He was the last owner of the orginal store. After him, John Shay bought the store and built a new store out of dismantled lumber from the building at the World's Fair in St. Louis (1904)
