William is a son of John Crane Witbeck and Susan Melverton - the second child of eleven. He married Sarah Theora Erekson about 1886 in Springville, Utah. They became parents to four children: William Erickson, Alden Maiben, John Evan, and Haller. Sarah died in 1905. William married Elizabeth Bernetta Hickman September 13, 1907 in Nephi, Utah.
