Warren was the only child of Wendell Stead Burnett & Irene Griffin Burnett. He was born March 21, 1921 and raised on a farm near Forbes, ND. He attended the NI in Ellendale before enlisting to serve his country with the US Army during WW II. He flew on several missions as a gunner prior to the air collision over the Adriatic Sea, near Florence, Italy, that claimed his life. Warren was the grandson of Ralph & Zillah May (Wheelihan) Griffin and William & Alice (Stead) Burnett, all buried in the Ellendale City Cemetery. His aunts & uncles were: Noble & Erma Griffin, Etta & Edwin F (Jim) Brauer & Alonzo (Lonnie) & Merle Griffin and his first cousins were: Ruth Brauer McNabb, Edwin R Brauer, Gail Griffin Bauer, Jack Griffin, Ernest " Bud" King & Eva Mae King Walsh.
