Maxie Allen Beaver, 87, of Rockwell, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Liberty Lane Hospice House. He was born Jan. 26, 1931 in Rowan County, to the late Walter J. Beaver and Myrtle Morgan Beaver. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in maintenance for Walmart. Mr. Beaver was a member of Lebanon Lutheran Church, where he was a former member of the Church Council and the Property Committee. He was also a member of Kennedy Hall American Legion Post #106 in Cleveland, where he served as past Commander and Finance Officer. Mr. Beaver loved riding his John Deer mower and gardening. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Brown Beaver; sons, Walter Lewis Beaver and wife Pattie of Salisbury and Mark Allen Beaver and wife Dianne of Rockwell; daughter, Margie B. Coggins of Rockwell; sister, Eleanor Kyles of Cleveland; six grandchildren one being his special caregiver, Elisha Herring and husband Shawn; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Service & Visitation: A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at Lebanon Lutheran Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Clarence Sifford and Rev. John Tucker. Following the service the family will speak to friends in the Fellowship Hall. Memorials: Memorials may be made to Lebanon Lutheran Church, 1200 Thompson Rd., Cleveland, NC 27013; St. Jude's Cancer Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Liberty Lane Hospice, 1601 Brenner Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144.
