William Samuel “Sammy” Somers, III, 87, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Friday July 20, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
Funeral services were conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday July 23, 2018 in Citty Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late William Samuel Somers, Jr. and the late Isie Owen Somers Jones and had lived in Rockingham County his entire life. He was a retired supervisor at American Tobacco Co., a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Reidsville Christian Church. Sammy was preceded in death by a half-sister: Ann Landra Adkins.
Survivors include his wife Alma Letchworth Somers of the home, sons: William Keith Somers and wife Denise of Reidsville, and Perry Dean Somers and wife Bonita of Charlotte, step-brother: Joseph Shepherd of Virginia, half-sister: Penny Sue Jones, grandchildren: Brian K. Somers and wife Jennifer, Michael B. Somers, Morgan D. Somers, and Lindsey Strudick and husband Matt, and 6 great grandchildren.
