He was a veteran of the Korean War, a lifelong member of the VFW, a farmer and retired journeyman iron-worker. He ran Guthrie Steel Company in Pigeon Roost and was a member of First Baptist Church in Pulaski.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 24th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home. The funeral service will start at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25th in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Wells officiating. Burial to follow in Giles Memory Gardens in Pulaski.
He is survived by his wife of over 63 years Shirley McClure Guthrie and brother Bobby(Pat)Guthrie, two sons, Tim(Annelle)Guthrie and Mark Guthrie and a daughter, Lisa(Bill)Hopper. Six grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
