Birth date also sometimes listed as 1 Jan 1848, since he was said to be born near midnight and there were no clocks. Husband of Matilda Abigail McDaniel.

Parts of obituary taken from unknown newspapers and dates, Thought to be Missouri papers:
F. M. Martin of Clarksburg, died in that city Wednesday morning, after an illness of three days. Death being due primarily to a nervous breakdown followed by an acute attack of kidney trouble and other attendant complaints. He was 69 years, four months and eight days old.
He was one of the well known pioneers of Moniteau County having lived continuously in the county since birth. In 1884 he moved from his old home on Moniteau Creek to three and one half miles south of California. In 1891 he moved to Clarksburg to educate his children at Hooper Institute. Soon afterwards he entered the mercantile business at that place and was so engaged for more then twenty years, having only retired a few months before his death.
Thus is marked the passing of one of Moniteau County's most estimable citizens, a pioneer known to nearly all the county, an exemplary brother in the lodge, a true comrade in the Grand Army, an earnest church member and a devoted and loving father and friend to one and all. To know him was to love him and the great conclave that gathered to do homage when the body was laid in its final resting place at the side of his beloved wife, was an eloquent, tribute to the memory of the departed.
