Michael “Stick” Blackwell, 64, of Bedford, died at 7:45 am on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his residence.

Born January 3, 1954 in Bedford, he was the son of Norman Russell and Anna Mary (Anderson) Blackwell. He was a retired carpenter working out of the carpenter’s union. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and loved mushroom hunting.

Survivors include a son, Barry Blackwell, of Linton; grandchildren, Tyler Cliver, and Jacob Blackwell and Cheyenne Rickelman; a brother, William R. Blackwell, of Bedford; four sisters, Carolyn Jane Presslar, of Bedford, Susan Sowders, of Heltonville, Robin Silvers, of Hardinsburg, Kim Greer, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pamela Blackwell.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 27th at Lowder Cemetery with Bro. Tom East officiating. Burial will follow with military rites accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
