John was born December 18, 1937 in Manitowoc, son of the late John F. and Inga (Ludwig) Mix. He went to school in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1956 from Lincoln High School. On August 29, 1959 John married the former Donna M. Lehman at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death, June 14, 2013. He was employed at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding for 41 years until his retirement in 1998. John then worked part time at First Chrysler. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Boiler Makers Union #443, a long time member of the Manitowoc Marine Band, and a member of the Mystic Moods Band at the Manitowoc Senior Center.
John is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law: Jeff (Ritalyn) Mix, Whitelaw; Greg (Cheryl) Mix, Manitowoc; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law: Shelly (Dennis) Peters, Manitowoc; three brothers-in-law: Daryl “Butch” (Cindy) Lehman, Manitowoc; Dale “Louie” (Karen) Lehman, Manitowoc; Daniel Lehman, Clarks Mills; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Diann (Mitz) Beyer, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives, special friends: Pat and Jerry Kluczinske, Manitowoc. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Donna; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Dennis (Joan) Mix; Larry Mix.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. Rev. Dave Pleier will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
