ROCHESTER - Frances Marie Spencer, 88, formerly of 18 Autumn St., died Friday March 22, 2002, at the Edgewood Center in Portsmouth after a period of failing health.

She was born April 12, 1913, in Barrington, the daughter of Monson and Jennie Fanning. She has resided in Rochester since 1950 and had worked as an assembler in the meter department at General Electric Co.

She was a member of the First Church Congregational of Rochester and enjoyed playing bingo.

The widow of Frank Spencer, she is survived by one son, Robert L. Wiggin of Rochester; grandchildren, Tim Wiggin of Gorham, Maine, Stacey Dion of Tampa, Fla., and Jody Wiggin of Rochester; great-grandson, Robert Joseph Dion of Tampa; sisters, Maggie Demerrit of West Newfields, Maine, Connie Tuccolo and Marie Blaisdell, both of Haverhill, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Edward N. Wiggin.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester, with the Rev. David Pearson officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick, Maine, later in the spring.
