Seattle Mayor. He served as mayor of Seattle, Washington from 1886 to 1887, after defeating Seattle founder Arthur A. Denny by 41 votes as part of a local movement to drive Chinese nationals from the city. Shoudy arrived in the Pacific Northwest in the early 1850's, as part of the Thomas Mercer expedition. He spent his early years in Seattle in the logging industry before operating one of Seattle's first general stores in partnership with future Seattle Mayor Henry A. Atkins.
