Barb was born on July 5, 1934 in Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Thomas and Gladys (Soukup) Skarvan. She was a graduate of Mishicot High School. Barb and her husband raised the family on a Brown Swiss dairy farm in Newton, WI. She was later employed as a “booky” bookkeeper for many years with several firms throughout the Manitowoc area. Barb was a life long member of First Presbyterian Church in Manitowoc, serving as a Deacon, Elder and a member of the church choir. She spent her lifetime enjoying the crossword puzzles from the paper, beginning at an early age with her nana.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Thomas and Cathy Luckow; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Cheryl Gamble and special friend Jim Wester, Denise and Ron Mohr, Doreen and Ken Bessert; nine grandchildren: Alan Luckow and fiancée Miranda Hughes, Jason Gamble and fiancée Kim Tindall, Jonathan and Reba Gamble, Jeremiah and Allison Gamble, Amanda and Justin Eigner, Christopher and Sarah Mohr, Melissa and Dr. Aaron Kaat, Jessica and Jason Voss, Joseph and Rachelle Bessert; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Dr. Geraldine and Dr. John Shaw, Patricia and Brian Gilmore; and one brother: Frederick (Rick) Hartel. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by one grandson: Kenny Bessert; one son-in-law: Charles Gamble; and the father of her children: Chester H. Luckow.
Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Melnik Presbyterian Church, 12320 Melnik Road. Officiating at the service will be CLP Phil Kinzel with burial of her cremated remains to follow at Melnik Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Melnik Presbyterian Church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
