James E. Walker, 65
Yorktown - James E. Walker, 65, formerly of 145 Lynndale Drive, died Wednesday in Yorktown Health Care Center.
He was born in Pine Knot, Ky., and came to Muncie in the late 1940s. Mr. Walker worked for 32 years at Delco Battery, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Delco Sympathy Club.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He also belonged to the Delco bowling league and United Auto Workers Local 489. He was a former Yorktown tax assessor and was in the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Tammie; a son, Jimmy Gordon Walker, Yorktown; three duaghters, Linda (Mrs. Darrell) Turpin, Yorktown, Anita Slaven, Muncie; two sisters, Lorraine Shepherd, and Norma Boyatt, both of Kentucky; seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.
