Obituary in unidentified newspaper:
MRS. ANNA HERR RITES HELD TUESDAY
Mrs. Anna Gertrude Herr 88, resident of this community many years, died at her home Sunday evening after a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 P.M. with the Rev. D. C. Bissinger officiating. The Rev. Fred Deitrich of Russell, Iowa, nephew of Mrs. Herr assisted with the services. Burial was held in the Wassonville cemetery.
Anna Gertrude Eckhardt, a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (should be Catherine) Semler Eckhardt, was born August 5, 1860, at Goshen, Indiana and passed quietly away at her home in Wellman March 13, 1949, at the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 8 days.
When she was six months old, her parents moved to Muscatine, Iowa. After several years they moved to Green Center. Later the farm known as the Will Eckhardt place became their home. She was one of a family of ten children, five boys and five girls.
On May 18, 1885 she was united in marriage with Fred Herr, and into their home were born five children. They made their home on the Herr homestead until they moved into Wellman in 1909.
She was a life-long member of the Methodist church, an active member of the Mary and Martha Sunday School class, a life member of the Woman's Society for Christian Service, a charter member of the Wellman Rebekah Lodge (joining in 1897) and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
