Eli Allen, Arvada's second postmaster, died on February 12 [1906].

Eli was the successor to Arvada's first postmaster, B.F. Wadsworth. Eli served as postmaster from 1882 to 1894. Eli's daughter, Ida Allen, served as postmaster for the next 15 years.

In the 1880 Federal census, Eli Allen (age 51), wife Angeline (age 47) and their five children were living in Vasquez, Jefferson County, Colorado. Eli, a farmer, and Angeline were born in Vermont.
