Born January 1, 1898, in Payette to Thomas Steffen & Wilhamina Kruse Steffan, she grew up & attended schools in Payette and married Arthur F. Lattig on March 27, 1921 in Weiser. They had lived in Payette since, and Mr. Lattig was in the grocery business for many years. He died in 1973. She was a member of the Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's League and was active in Red Cross work during WWII.

Survivors are a Son, Dr. Jerry Lattig of Portland; a Daughter, Mrs. Philip (Joyce) Schnabel, Jr. of Eugene, OR; a Brother, Edward Steffen, in Illinois; a Sister, Alma Koontz of Silverton, Idaho; and 12 Grandchildren. A Brother and a Sister also preceded her in death.

Joyce's Mother was a caring & nurturing Mother - & very capable. She kept their home, at 316 3rd Avenue North, spotless. She loved finding new ways to decorate the interior & locate new & decorative furniture. The Lattig home was right next door to Arthur's Parents' (Cyrus Jacoby Lattig & Mary Emily Filler Lattig) home .

Nell & Arthur had many friends in the area. At one time, they had a tennis court in the side yard. They spent many happy hours playing tennis & partying with friends.

Mr. Precht will be in charge of the market, while Mr. Lattig and Loveland will handle the grocery department. (Note: Art sold the Quality Grocery in 1954 (the same year we bought our new home on Seventeenth Street in St.Helens).
