BORN--John O. Born funeral Monday at St. Luke's
Funeral services for John O. (Hans) Born, 69, of 3407 13th street, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Luke's United Church of Christ with Pastor Russell Mertz officiating. Burial will be in Columbus cemetery.
The body will lie in state at Gass Funeral Home from 2 p.m. Sunday until noon Monday, then at church from 1 to 2 p.m. Family prayer service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gass chapel.
Mr. Born, a custodian in the public school system, died Thursday night in Behlen Memorial hospital. He had farmed in Platte couty near Duncan until moving to Columbus in 1952.
Son of the late John Sr. and Mary Steiner Born, he was born in Platte county July 27, 1898 and attended Platte county schools.
He married Dorothy Kurth on Sept. 4, 1935 in Council Bluffs, Ia., and she survives him.
Also surviving are two brothers, Charles of Columbus and Sam of Geneva; four sisters, Mrs. Sam (Ida) Geiser of Monroe, Mrs. Carl (Lillie) Harris of Gallatin, Mo., Mrs. Roland (Martha) Eggli and Mrs. Marvin (Ella) Clauff, both of Fullerton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey and Fred, and a sister, Rose, all of Columbus.
Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's church, of which he was a member.
