Leon John Buber, 88, of Wayne Township, passed away Friday at The Gardens at York Terrace, Pottsville.

Born in Minersville, April 11, 1930, he was a son of the late Stiney and Agnes Jones Buber.

He was the widower of Helen M. Moyer Buber, his wife of 50 years.

Leon was a graduate of Llewellyn High School and had served in the Navy from 1950-54.

He had been employed as a forklift operator at Whippany Paper Mill, and later worked as a molder, assembler and pourer for Penn Steel, Hamburg.

Leon was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, and also attended St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Cressona.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed raising pigeons.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepchildren, Clair Zimmerman, and Barbara Zimmerman Saunders.

Leon is survived by stepson, Barry Zimmerman; grandchildren, Tammie, Todd and Troy Saunders, Deborah, David, Randy, Richard, Robin, Diane and Cindy Zimmerman; numerous great-grandchildren, and a sister, Bernice Anderson.

A Celebration of Life funeral service will be conducted at noon Wednesday at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Interment with military honors will immediately follow the service at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. To extend online condolences, visit www.gsesfuneralhomes.com.
