Alfonso V. Alvarez, 56, Oshkosh, died of an apparent heart attack on Tuesday morning, Oct. 13, 1992, at his home.

He was the beloved husband of Sheila L. Sheffer Alvarez and the loving father of Amy, age 11, and Alfonso Antonio "Tony" Alvarez, age 9. He was born Nov. 16, 1935, in Madrid, Spain, the son of Valentin A. and Margarita Vasquez Alvarez. He came to the United States on Nov. 16, 1968, and was employed at Marvel Manufacturing Corp. and at Muza Metal Products.

In addition to his wife, children and mother, Margarita Vasquez, all of Oshkosh, he is survived by a sister, Manuela "Lita"' Alvarez of Oshkosh, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Justman officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of services on Thursday at the church. A memorial has been established.
