My Grandfather, James Perry, often told us the below-noted:
"When Dad left to join the Union Army, he told Mother (and Grand-Dad spoke of his mother, he always said "Mother", never "Mom/Mommy") if I don't get killed, we'll get married when I get back and they married shortly after his return from the Civil War (Union Army) and I was their first-born and I was born on September 8, 1865. I always thought my Mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. Dad was a country doctor all his adult life and made many of his own medicines from roots and herbs". .. Della 5-3-2007

One of my uncles told us, "Pap Andy" and Grandmother Emiline eloped, on horse-back, and got married. Also, the uncle told us he was known as one of the best "fever doctors" in rural Southern West Virginia". .. Della 5-3-2007
