Alex was born on January 7, 1927 to Aleksander Stachowski, and Eva Crumley. He had an older sister, Elizabeth. He had a happy childhood. In 1944 Alex joined the US Navy. On February 28, 1945 he was killed during the Battle of Iwo Jima, he was survived by his parents, his sister, Elizabeth, and his fiancée Laura Muller.
