Harvey W. Yindra

Manitowoc - Harvey W. Yindra, age 87, passed into peace on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Harvey was born on April 16, 1931 in Green Bay, WI, son of the late Anthony and Frances Yindra. From the age of 12, he began many odd jobs in building, construction and remodeling. Upon return from service in the Army he worked at Manitowoc Shipbuilders and then began full-time work in construction. He owned his own home building business and built and remodeled many homes in Manitowoc County. Always a handyman, he constantly had ideas on how to make gadgets to make his life easier. He enjoyed tinkering and spending time with the dogs at the ranch. He loved his pet dogs that he treated as members of his family. On January 8, 1955 he married the former JoAnn Bleser in Kellnersville. She preceded him in death on March 16, 1993.

He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed ice fishing, hunting and sports conservation. Harvey was an active member of the Mishicot Snowmobile Club, Lakeshore Snowmobile Club, Manitowoc County Fish and Game, and Viking Bow and Gun Club, and Clarks Mills Sportsman Club. He received a Lifetime Special Achievement Award from the Mishicot Sportsman Club.

Survivors include one son: Randy (Mary Sue) Yindra, Manitowoc; one daughter: Terri (Rob) Rexrode, Denmark; two grandchildren: Kris Yindra, Manitowoc, Nick Rexrode, Denmark; and a special friend: Judy Flaherty. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by the love of his life: JoAnn Yindra; his parents: Anthony and Frances Yindra; brothers and sisters-in-law: Dan (Marcella) Yindra, Eddy (Mary) Yindra, Leo (Eva) Yindra, Joe (Jane) Yindra; one sister and brother-in-law: Mary (Louie) Kakuk; two nephews: Leonard (Bonnie) Yindra and Marvin Yindra; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Tom Tomaszewski with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
