MUNCIE- Martha E. Chesnut, 90, went to be with the Lord Wednesday August 8, 2018 at Terre haute Regional Hospital, in the presence of her family.
She was born October 14, 1927 in Muncie, the daughter of Ernest and Bernice (Barton) McLaughlin. Martha graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1945.
Martha married John Chesnut, Sr. and went to work as an Operator for Indiana Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T) and retired after forty years in 1986. She thoroughly enjoyed being a telephone operator.
She loved to cook and sew, and especially loved her grandchildren.
Mrs. Chesnut is survived by her daughter, Dr. Elizabeth (Chesnut) Pino; and two grandchildren, David Pino and Zachery Pino.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John D. Chesnut, Sr.; her son, John D. Chesnut, Jr.; a sister, Sylvia McKillip; two sisters-in-law, Janet Wilson and Nancy LaWall; and a brother-in-law, Phillip Chesnut.
Private Family Services will take place at Elm Ridge Mausoleum.
