John Patrick Garrett 63 passed away on May 4, 2018 at his residence in Independence, KS. John enjoyed a lengthy career as park ranger for the U.S. Army Corps. Engineers at Elk City Reservoir, John Redmond Reservoir, and Ft. Gibson Lake in Oklahoma. His work was his passion, he loved blazing trails and canoeing. A KU alum, John was an avid fan of KU football and basketball.
John was born in Neodesha on December 26, 1954 the eldest child of Lloyd Ray and Genevieve (Mong) Garrett. He is survived by his sisters Jane Garrett Cherniss, Lawrence, and Mary Garrett Olive, Neodesha, and a niece, Katherine Olive, Neodesha.
