Joseph John Greenan, 92, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday August 15, 2018 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hopkinsville with Father Michael Charles Abiero officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Boston, MA, he was born November 16, 1925, the son of the late Joseph Philip Greenan and Eleanor Agnes Halliday Greenan.

He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He taught history in high schools in Texas and Massachusetts. He also was a history instructor at Hopkinsville Community College starting in 1979.

He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He also served in the Army Reserves and was called up to active duty with deployments in Okinawa, Korea, Omaha, NE, and Gitmo.

Survivors include his sons: Joseph Greenan of Raleigh, N.C. and Terrence Greenan of Grovetown, GA; his brother, Hugh Greenan of St. Johnsbury, VT; and three grandchildren.
