OBITUARY:
Smitherman Rites Held In Angelina
LUFKIN, Feb. 18 - Funeral services for Charles S. Smitherman had lived in Lufkin for the past 12 years. He was born in Houston County and was a member of the Pentacostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Smitherman of Lufkin; four daughters, Mrs. Lou English of Lufkin, Mrs. Magaline Hayes of Beaumont, Mrs. Margaret Johnson of Diboll, and Mrs. Emma Grimes of Lufkin; three sons, Arrie of Colmesneil, Harry of Lufkin, and Eugene Smitherman of Baytown; three sisters, Mrs. Bell Conner of Ratcliff, Mrs. Nora Campbell of Groveton, and Mrs. Ester McHenry of Marlin; and 15 grandchildren.

- Burial location is per TXDC.
- Informant on TXDC gives d.o.b. as 14 May 1889 which is most likely incorrect since it varies from date that Charlie gave on his WWI and WWII Draft data of 14 May 1891.
- Father: George W. Smitherman
- Mother: appears to be Sarah/Sara Mathis (Key or King) Elkins Smitherman [not sure why she was buried with gravestone under the Elkins last name instead of Smitherman]
