David Paul Harbert
October 14, 1949 - August 13, 2018

David Paul Harbert, 68, of Lumberport, WV departed his earthly residence for his heavenly home on August 13th, 2018. He was the eldest child of the late Max and Marjorie (Robinson) Harbert.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Linda Swiger Harbert, having been married December 12th, 1968. He is further survived by his twin daughter and son Catherine Marie Harbert Marston and her husband Chris Marston of Luray, VA and Timothy Paul Harbert and his wife Bridget Carvelli Harbert of Nutter Fort, WV. Most of all he was survived by his true pride and joy, his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Marie Marston of Luray, VA.

He is also further survived by three sisters and one brother, Ramona Harbert Swiger and husband Rick of Lumberport, WV, Lisa Harbert Green and husband Larry of Martinsburg, WV, Maxine Harbert Ice and husband Jamie of Lumberport, WV, and Grant Michael Harbert and wife Ginger of Shinnston, WV, brother-in-law Michael L. Ash of Shinnston, WV and sister-in-law Diana L. Swiger of Lumberport, WV, in addition to many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Dianne L Harbert Ash.

David was a 50+ year member of the Lumberport United Methodist Church where he served as Lay Speaker, Choir Director, Youth Director, and Sunday School Teacher. David was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, belonged to and was the treasurer for the Lumberport Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the Lions Club. He graduated from Lumberport High School in 1967, served in the United States Navy from 1967-1972, graduated from Salem University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration in 1981, and retired from Harrison Power Station after 33 years of service.

Friends may call at the Lumberport United Methodist Church, 100 Church St., Lumberport, on Wednesday, August 15 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Robert Wilson officiating. Interment will be at the Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted.
