Heyward Steele Pullium, 70, of Weaverville, and formerly of Andrews, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at the Brian Care Center in Weaverville.

He was a native of Cherokee County and as a child moved to Marietta, Ga.

He was a 1953 graduate of Georgia Military Academy in College Park, Ga.

He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Ga.

Upon returning to Marietta, he worked in retail sales of men¹s clothing.

In 1970 he moved back to Andrews to raise his family.

He worked as a flight instructor at the Andrews Airport and then worked at OMC for several years before his retirement.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Andrews.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing and his grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Vinison Gay and Nettie Elizabeth Phillips Pullium and was preceded in death by a sister, Joy Longhurst.

Burial was in the Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews with Military graveside rites conducted by Veterans Organizations;
